The Vision
Mentorship programs recruit volunteers, which means they recruit the already-generous and reach the already-connected. The Mentor Lottery treats it like jury duty in reverse: every retiree is eligible, every fifteen-year-old is entered, and the city draws pairs by lot - vetted, supported, and honored with the seriousness of a civic institution.
