The Vision
A civic ritual, not an app: once in your life, you write a sealed letter to the residents of your city one hundred years out, and the city archives it in a public wall of brass vaults. The reading, a century later, is a municipal holiday. The point is not the letters - it is what writing one does to the author's sense of time.

The Long Story
We have no institutions that ask an ordinary person to think past their own life. Wills face backward; pensions face thirty years. The Century Letter is a machine for manufacturing long-mindedness, one citizen at a time.
The design constraints are all about trust across time: acid-free paper, brass vaults, a public ledger of deposits, and an opening ceremony scheduled by law, so no future council can quietly cancel the past's appointment with the future.
